Hairdressing

This particular project is open to both year 11 students and those who have left school, up to age 18

2007-2008

 

An 8 week programme (Fridays from 25th April to 11th July 2008) where young people will use the hairdressing training salon at Combe Pafford School to develop their practical hairdressing skills and gain confidence, while also learning how to relate to clients and co-workers. They will also be helped to progress into further education, employment or training.


•Introduction to hairdressing, client expectations, hairdressing related jobs, Health and Safety, Induction, importance of your appearance and talking with clients, shampoo and conditioning demonstration, Styling, products/electrical equipment, head blocks practice, rollering, shampoo and condition on each other.


•Discussion and demonstration on handling of cutting equipment - scissors, razors combs, etc. Demonstration of one length haircut, head block practice styles and cutting. Demonstration of a cut and finish. Hair up modeling on each other.


•Funky colour demonstration including theory, Students Section foils / roots, practice on each other, visit outside salon.


•Demonstration of hair up preparation and basic look, Show Patrick Cameron video, Students practice workshop on each other, visit to E2e, FE provider, Instruction on portfolio building and what the qualification entails.


•Exciting - complete wedding/party/evening look to include makeup, nails and hair up. Demonstrate using students as models


A youth Worker will help them to focus on their goals for the future, and to set targets and guide them in completing the ASDAN Youth Activities Award.


Each young person will receive at least 33 hours of ‘Activities’ and guided support towards mainstream learning or work.

Dates and Times.


  1. Young people can make their own way to Combe Pafford or will be collected from from various locations by agreement.

  2. They will be arrive at Combe Pafford by 9.30 am and leave by 3 pm on the dates shown.
